Album artwork for indie band Regular Fluids entitled Fluoxetine (20mg) + Regular Fluids. Written in lock down, the album addresses themes around dissociative disorders and mediocre treatments for mental health.

Brief

Written by an online creative brief generator I was tasked with the following: Create music cover art for an indie band which focuses on themes of mental health, appealing to the millennial and gen z target market. With this self initiated project I set out to work on my conceptual photographic skills and combine this with my passion for music cover design.

Scenario

Regular Fluids, an indie band, is releasing their dark album "Fluoxetine (20mg)" digitally and on vinyl. We need a conceptual cover design that reflects the album's themes of dissociative disorders and mediocre mental health treatments.

Inspiration

The design is inspired by dissociative visual states including silhouettes of depression demons. The typography mimics that used on medical prescription forms and is distorted to evoke the vision of people who suffer from dissociative disorders. For the photograph, a dark and gloomy shot of a wet window with distant and dull lights conveys a sense of helplessness. Layered over it is an abstract 'depression demon.'
